JTD 395P was new to Southend Transport in April 1976 and was converted to an open top O49/29F body in June 1990 for use on local sea front services. It was withdrawn in July 1993 and sold to Crosville Wales Ltd as DDL 195, that company becoming Arriva Cymru Ltd in April 1998. It was subsequently sold on further to Merrivale (Torquay) Ltd in April 2001, C J Bowden & A D Slater in Torquay in April 2008, Marple Trade Centre (Dealer) around September 2011 and finally returning to the Southend area in October 2011 when purchased by The Castle Point Transport Museum. JTD 395P was then refurbished by the museum volunteers to a livery similar to that used by Southend Transport when on the sea front services in the early 90’s.
