2876 Routemasters were built between 1954 and 1968 and there are well over 1000 examples still in existence. Most were built for London Transport although a small number went to other bus operators. 138 CLT was new to London Transport Hounslow garage in May 1962 and was introduced for the final phase of the trolleybus replacement. After 32 years of service, it was withdrawn and placed in the London Transport reserve fleet based at Hatfield. It was then sold to bus dealer PVS of Barnsley in 1997 and in May the following year was purchased by the current owners for preservation. Then followed a long period of renovation resulting in the outstanding condition you see here today.
