Saturday the 18th November was the presentation of prizes for the winners and runners up of our ‘Paint Your Wagon’ competition that we ran for our Heritage Open Day Event in September. We invited children to submit a drawing/painting of a vehicle. There were three age groups with a winner and runner up in each group. The judges were Canvey Town Mayor Elaine Harvey and our resident artist Maggie Rose who were both on hand for the presentation.
As children and their families gathered in the museum, Janet Walden, on behalf of the museum started the proceedings. All the winners and runners up were given a goodie bag followed by a trip out on one of our vintage buses. The three winners will have their pictures incorporated into our mural which is being painted by Maggie Rose and here group. More about the mural will be added in the near future.
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
