100 of these models were produced by Leyland with Eastern Coachwork Bodies for the Tilling Companies of which Eastern National had 18. MPU 52 was in service from 1947 – 1965. It started its life at Chelmsford depot and was transferred to Canvey in 1956 and from then a period at Hadleigh from 1961 – 1964. In 1965 MPU 52 was purchased for the sum of £75 by Messrs J & R Gent and friends for preservation and included no fewer than 3 continental tours with the bus during the period of 1965 – 1967. MPU 52 has been stored at Canvey continually since then as is now awaiting major restoration.
