Originally fitted with two 2 Ton Dry Powder units connected to a cannon plus hoses, selected via a control panel on the side of the vehicle. The cannon was operated via a direction bar and trigger. The appliance was only used to fight one fire which was a diesel leak on a Methane Compressor that had ignited. The fire was extinguished but the resulting mess from the powder blowing in the wind which travelled to the Texaco / London Coastal site next door covering their staffs cars, resulting in our operators being sent over to clean them. Site operators on rest day were sent for to help with this and the mess the powder had caused in the compressor house which wasn’t helped as foam extinguishers had also been used prior to the powder. Later the powder system was removed and the vehicle was converted to how it looks now and was used to carry containers of foam and foam generators plus hand held powder extinguishers.
